Having designed and installed more electronic shades over the past two decades than anyone else in the state of New Jersey, TD Smart Homes has come to love what electronic shades does for homeowners.
You might be familiar with battery operated or wireless smart shades. We’re here to introduce to you the award winning PoE motorized roller shades from PowerShades.
It’s the world’s first PoE-enabled smart shades that are low voltage, eliminate the need for batteries and bulky wiring for wall decor.
The PoE (power over ethernet) shade uses a single ethernet cable to deliver both electrical power and command control data to the shade. Its hardwired access to power allows the motor to move twice as fast as battery operated models in the market. It only uses about 5 watts of power and is controlled using voice command, a smart device like Amazon Alexa, or PowerShade’s cloud based portal. It also has the ability to schedule your shades to automatically open and close at chosen times.

Advantages of power-over ethernet
With PoE motorized roller shades, you’ll never have to worry about charging or replacing its batteries. The speed of this electric blind is unmatched and operates more than twice as fast than the popular Lutron Serena.
It does not come with a DIY option because the product is distributed through trusted dealers that assist with installation and maintenance. Thankfully, it costs less than installing other AC- powered motorized blinds due to it’s use of PoE technology. Our professional installers will create a schedule to control your blinds using the PowerShades Dashboard. You’ll have the option to automate your shades depending on a defined percentage based on triggers or events from your smart home devices, or simply based on time of day, week, or month. You won’t have to worry about ever seeing the Powershades online dashboard, as your installer will program the controlled routines for you. Installation can’t get any simpler than that.
PowerShades offers two options for their PoE roller shades: single and day/night. The latter has two shades stacked together where one shade operates during the day and the second is lowered down at night for advanced light blocking and privacy.
You have three styles to choose from: Affinity, which reveals the electric dowel that moves the shade up and down; Concord, which conceals the motor inside a metal or plastic fascia; and Pinnacle, which works the same as the Concord with the shade brackets mounted to the fabric front instead of the window frame.
PowerShades comes in three types of fabric: Solar, which is a sheer type that allows light to pass through, while providing some privacy; Light Filtering, which is a more dense fabric that has less light passing and more privacy offered; and Light Blocking, which is essentially used to darken the room as much as possible and offers the most privacy.
Our installers can guide you through the choices and help you become familiar with the use of voice commands to control your motorized blinds. You can rely on sunrise/sunset routines or control them using voice commands such as “open,” “close,” or “set to” a percentage of open such as 25% open, etc.
